I have searched the forum, but haven't found an answer that explains the correlation between the code sections regarding show windows. NEC 210.62 requires an outlet for each 12 feet of show window. NEC 220.14 allows you to size the branch circuit based on 180VA per receptacle or 200VA per linear foot. The feeder calculations according to 220.43(A) require you to account for 200VA per linear foot. My confusion is with the relationship between 220.14 and 220.43(A). If I had 24 feet of show window I would need two receptacles per 210.62. If I sized the branch circuit based on 180VA per receptacle, I could circuit both receptacles to the same branch circuit. But my feeder calculations need to account for 4800VA at 125% for continuous loading (6000VA). What is the reason for including 6000VA in you feeder calculation if the branch circuit supporting the 24' of show window can only support 1920VA? Why does 220.14 allow you to size the branch circuit based on 180VA per receptacle? I am further confused by using the second option of 220.14. If I size the branch circuit based on 200VA per foot, each receptacle would have a branch circuit load of 2400VA. Is the branch circuit not sized for continuous load in this case?
