I am interested to see if most electrical contractors run a one man service crew or a two man service crew? Most everyday repair calls can be completed with one man- but do you send two to expedite the repair so it doesn't take as long for the customer or as taxing on the one man? If you run a one man crew and need a second technician to go and help out- do you charge the same rate for second man that you do for the first man- or is there a lower rate charged for the second man? Hope that makes sense!

Thanks for your help,

We have both. A lot depends on the nature of the call. Most service is a one man operation and the only time we send an extra man is for training or we know it will take two people. We use a straightforward pricing system so it is based on the job not the number of men on the job. One man two hours or two men for an hour it is still two man hours.

If we did strictly one man jobs, we would have one man crews but, a lot of our work is accomplished better with two guys. Especially in remodel, you often need that second hand, even if it's just for a few minutes.

If the both go on a "one man" service call, they can always split up and both be working...or at least appear as if they are working :)

And, if it is the rare T&M job, the customer is paying the same rate for both of them.
