    Fire alarm voltage question

What is the nominal zone circuit voltage in an addressable fire alarm system?

I am thinking 24 volts, but it has been a while.

    Thanks

And 12vdc for some hybrid systems, so it depends on the system...

Thanks for the input. The reason I ask is, I am applying for a job with an electrical contractor. Part of the application is a 10 question mini quiz.
I posted the question just as they asked it.
This was the only one I didn't readily know.

    Thanks again.

9 out of 10 times you will be looking at a 24V system.

Cool The answer is: it depends.....

For EST2 or EST3 equipment (including all the companies EST private labeled these panels for, such as Siemens, Honeywell, & Mirtone) or SIGA type devices on EST IRC3 or FCC panels that incorporate older ZAS2 cards, the answer is 8 volts.

What a strange question......Zone circuit in an addressable system ? being as it's an addressable system it's no longer a zone based or conventional FA panel. The only zones in an addressable panel are software zones. This must be referring to the Signaling line circuit.....?

Silent Knight makes several panel that are addressable and you can make the flexputs in zone loops

sorry just being a smart a**. I see what you are saying!!!

    Good point.

Ultimately, it's panel dependent and as most panels can only use their own devices on the addressable circuit, why would one care? Maybe just FYI...

Maybe it's a trick question.
