Can anyone explain what the Parasitic Load is regarding Solar PV Systems?

This term is used in our States new RPS Solar Carve Out Regulation...

Solar Carve-Out Renewable Generation. The electrical output of a Solar Carve-Out Renewable Generation Unit that qualifies for the Massachusetts Solar Carve-Out under 225 CMR 14.05(4), excluding any electrical energy utilized for parasitic load.

I assume a Parasitic Load would be minor?

How will a PV System keep accurate measurement of its Parasitic Load?

Parasitic load is accessory loads or power consumed over and above the primary goal of distributing power. Some examples might be security CCTV / lighting to be sure the panels are not stolen at night, losses in the inverter and conductors, etc

Performance monitoring as well would be a common one (if not a big load).

Does this mean that all such loads could be connected on the PV side of a PV production meter? (I don't work in MA, just curious.)
