I would like to learn more of dimming ballasts and their controls as I have not installed them. Here is a photo of one I have in hand. The low voltage wiring (violet and grey, 600v.) is routed outside of the j-box on the recessed can.
The Universal web site shows switched line out (277v) to the ballast, and 0-10v. on a second set of conductors from the same switch to control dimming. (violet/grey). A note concerning this ballast reads, "can be wired as Class 1 or Class 2 circuit."
The can is configured with the low voltage control wires exiting the j-box. Is it assumed a cable will contain the LV controls? What is common?
