In addition to my light fixture post concerning Class 2 Div 2 environment, I've got a question about a Dusttight Switch that was illustrated in a Mike Holt Guide to Special Occupancy that I have (see attached).

502.115 Switches, Circuit Breakers, Motor Controllers, and Fuses
(B) Class II, Division 2.
In Class II, Division 2 locations, enclosures for fuses, switches, circuit breakers, and motor controllers, including push buttons, relays, and similar de-vices, shall be dusttight or otherwise identified for the loca-tion.

In the example from MH's guide to special occupancies, he is showing using a just a bell box with gasket and cover that is 3R rated. I don't believe 3R is equivalent to dusttight and I haven't seen a bell box that had a dustight rating. Does any have any experience with this for Class II Div 2?

I agree that per T110.28 NEMA 3R is not "dusttight"

T110.28 Informational Note No.1
"...The term dusttight is typically used in
conjunction with Enclosure Types 3, 3S, 3SX, 3X, 5, 12, 12K, and 13..."

I seem to recall Bell boxes are identified as weatherproof rather than type 3R.
I thought so too, but the Hubbell catalog only shows them as 3R. I am a bit surprise as it was my understanding that 3R devices had to have drain holes and I don't recall drain holes on a Bell box.
