test question ??
tell us what you determined (and how)
although a 500 would work..you might come up with something different

If you want to be safe, use #12 on a 20a c.b.. You could probally use #14 on a 20a c.b.

but not enough info to say for sure.

Breaker and wire size

Breaker and wire size

Check out 430.42(C).This will guide you to the CB size if the manufacturer doesn't specify what to use. See Table 430.248 and you will see that 9.8 amps is standard for the motor rating given. ;)

its not a test question. we were told that a sump pump had to be installed at the stadium and we were not given the motor yet to see the nameplate or the instructions. we were just given the info that i stated. i thought to run 10awg with a 30amp time delay. turns out that 12awg with a 20amp regular breaker was plenty. i thought you had to rate the wire and breaker acording to locked rotor not f.l.c..thanks for everybodies help
