How do you add circuits to existing recessed (in masonry) panelboards?

See attached - I assume this is not how to do it.
I see this all the time but this time I had my camera (phone) handy.

Popular here would be a 4" sq with a piece of FMC fished into a panel KO.

This probably a hard-pipe system.

goto the nearest receptacle or light opening and "and another wire" in the pipe.

I know I can put 27 #12 thhn wires in a 3/4 pipe.

By the way, who ever invented that type of screw cover for that panel should be shot.

I chip out the block, cut out the steel and offset into it. The only way I know.

When I say 'cut out the steel' I mean the metal header(?) that the masons put over the top of the panel before they brick over it.

When its all done and patched it looks as fine as any surface conduit would.

No notching or entering through the cover.

I like them fine when other before me have not screwed them up.

I agree they aren't too bad if someone else hasn't messed them up, still need to watch that you don't pinch any conductors between the cover clamp and the box though.

Did what the boss said to do

Did what the boss said to do

Do you derate the conductors when you have 27 conductors in the raceway?

Did what the boss said to do......

A month earlier I had asked " are you sure that you do not want to add another conduit before concrete and sheetrock ???"

I pulled 21 #10's in a 1 1/4" EMT, I thought that was a little tight lol. 97' run with 4 90's, it sure pulled like it was full!
