Have a 250’ horizontal run of 1C/#500 MI Cable(3 conductors). It has about (4) 90’s, (2) 45’s and (2) vertical offsets of about 1’. This isper shop drawings so that’s how the field will install it. Curious as to howthe setup would be to install this and specifically how the guys would accomplish thebends/offsets? Thanks.

Really? Lol

Really. MI is a very labor intensive method. In these modern times there are other options than MI in many cases. One would be VITALink for many applications. Just remember that no matter what system/method you use has to comply with UL Category FHIT which includes ALL of the requirements for a given method system such as support, fittings, etc.

Funny I was just reading this. So the bends are accomplished with the pulleys...you set up pulleys where bends take place? Not fully understanding the rollers they show in the brochure. The MI doesn't just pulled onto the trapeze racks? You need rollers on each racks or every so often? Thanks

That'd be my guess for the most part. Rollers go wherever needed in straight portions of the run. Sheaves must be at least as large as the minimum bending radius. I have no hands-on experience, only on site once.

yeah. really. you've never seen labor units
really disappear until you've installed it. and it's so
seldom done, whoever gets stuck with it probably
hasn't done it much, if ever.

exhibit "b".
notice it's a fifth of an hour video, and nothing
much happens except huffing and puffing.

so at least $10 in labor disappeared, and nothing
happened. MI is a lot like that.

carefully note the popeye arms and age of the
trained professional. you don't normally put the
old guys on the crew doing this.
