A customer has picked out a light fixture with halogen bulbs that comes recommended to use a low voltage dimmer. I've not yet installed a low voltage dimmer, will the existing house wiring from the switch to the ceiling light be sufficient? Thank you

In general yes but if it is an electronic low voltage dimmer you will need a neutral. I cannot remember if the magnetic LV dimmer needs a neutral.

You do need to know which LV dimmer you have to buy
