URD cable and the NEC

My question is ... will the NEC allow URD Cable to be direct burial and terminated directly into a Service Panel on the inside of a building or will you have to transition on the outside of the building and bring another type cable into the panel . Thanks for your ideas:

The URD would have to have an NEC designation like RHW for it to come into the building.

Strictly speaking if it is 'just' URD with no other markings the NEC does not allow using it at all.

Where would I find this in the code?

Where would I find this in the code?

110.8 Wiring Methods. Only wiring methods recognized
as suitable are included in this Code. The recognized methods
of wiring shall be permitted to be installed in any type
of building or occupancy, except as otherwise provided in
this Code.

You will not find URD as a wiring method in the NEC.

310.13 Conductor Constructions and Applications. Insulated
conductors shall comply with the applicable provisions
of Table 310.13(A) through Table 310.13(E).

These conductors shall be permitted for use in any of
the wiring methods recognized in Chapter 3 and as specified
in their respective tables or as permitted elsewhere in
this Code.

You will not find URD in Table 310.13.

Now if you have some URD that is as listed as USE or RHW you would be good to go.

Well almost. If it is only type USE, it still can't enter the building.

I was wondering if anyone was going to bust my chops on that when I was posting it.

I had already said the URD would have to have an NEC designation like RHW for it to come into the building.
