Hi all, I'm hoping to pick your brains regarding a horse barn.
The barn is 80' x 40' wood framed with an air gap of 18" between the
entire length of the side walls and the eaves so there is plenty of
ventilation. There are 9 stalls with quality rubber mat floors.
One of my questions is regarding article 547.5 wiring
methods. The owner wants EMT but it is not a listed method.
They do not anticipate hosing the electrical down and 90%
of the wiring is above 13 ft. except for the switches. Also the
barn will be kept very clean according to the owners. I'm thinking
this is a AHJ question but 547.5 seems to leave a little wiggle room
when making a determination by allowing "other cables or raceways
suitable for the location." I have more questions but wanted to get started
with this one. Thanks

547 only sees worst case scenario. 9 horses in a 80x40 building is nothing compared to putting 100-250 hogs in the same space when it comes to how corrosive that environment may be.

That barn is probably going to be cleaner then some houses I go to.
