Contractor is bidding on a job to be installed under 2017. The job is a commercial garage and calls for 3 phase welders to be cord & plug connected.
Plans were originally drawn based on earlier Code, and no thought was given to 210.8(B)(8),
Anyone had any experience as to how welders and GFCI co-exist ?

My understanding of welders is that they use a separate power supply and the ground clamp put on the piece of work so that the current can return to the source. I do not think if they are separately derive systems or Transformers that a ground fault on the secondary side would trip a primary side GFCI. But I am willing to admit that I could be completely wrong and it may be a nightmare trying to put a welder on a GFCI receptacle
