I'm going to install a new 100 amp main panel. Not adding any new circuits. Would I need to install AFCI breakers for the bedroom circuits? What if it's a multi-wire branch circuit, how would you protect it with a AFCI breaker? Also, when you install AFCI breakers on old wiring, do you usually have problems with them tripping? Thank you for your help.

No ACFIc needed for what you are describing in NJ.
If we were to add any new circuits then, yes ACFIc needed on all non GFCI protected circuits.

Not needed at all in NJ for existing dwellings unless it's a new construction, addition or add a level
