HVAC Line question

I am in the process of rewiring a completely gutted house, all new electrical, but there is a distance of original wire for the gas HVAC system that the owner wants me to reuse. I would have to add a junction box, and continue from the junction to the panel with new wire. Is this allowed under current Code?

You can put an unlimited number of junction boxes in the line if you wish, as long as codes pertaining to the box and wiring method are met, such as box fill, accessibility, securing of cables. Is the existing cable suitable for the installation?
