Hello, I have the breaker open and racked out that feeds a 4160V motor 400 HP, my question is: for static build up reasons isnt the next step to ground the motor feeder conductors?

Thanks,
josh

Is the issue static or cable capacitance (cable charging current) ?

It will be a good idea to ground the cables before touching. Is your gear supplied with grounding provisions ?

Depends on what type of work you doing. At our site, we do not ground the motor if we are locking it out for machical reasons. If we are working on the motor wiring we will install personal protective safety grounds.
