One of my customers is looking to replace the incandescent bulbs in his high hats with CFLs. Any recommended brands? Any brands to avoid? Let's not even start with dimming.... Thanks, Pete

I would recommend Sylvania Micro-Mini CFL's. They exceed the government Energy Star ratings, have a low mercury level (1.5mg ) and are rated for 12,000 hrs.

nVision, EcoSmart, Commercial Electric and many other are made by TCP.

I'm not sure who makes GE, other than that it is not them. They're manufactured for GE in China.

TCP manufactured ones and GE branded ones been hit and miss with audible noise problem. Some are totally silent. Some buzz objectionably.

If you can find Philips ones made in Holland or Poland, go for them.
