I am trying to get a number together for a TJ Maxx store.
It is approx 25,000sq ft in a completely gutted space.
Scope of work includes new 600 amp 480 volt service and
then the usual lighting (350 fixtures) rtu's 8, dressing rooms
sign, door openers etc.

If anyone here has done this type of job, what kind of time
and number of people did it involve.

Ceiling height will be 12' suspended and about 16' to roof.
Just a general idea would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ed

Chris, GC is supplying luminaries.
I guess I confused the issue, just meant dedicated circuits
for the door openers.
I will be supplying MDP, Xfmr, soft wire lighting contactor
120/240 volt 1 phase panel,conduit,mc cable etc.

My original thought was for 2,000 man hours.

Well is that the total sum for the job? Is that how your equating to it ?

Sharpen your pencil, take a fresh look at your numbers my friend; that's 2 men for 25 weeks!... in a vanilla box ? Adding 1000 / 40 = 25

If you broke down the different acts of the construction process would that help you?

Cadpoint, I was really hoping someone on here had done one
of these stores or something similar. The GC thinks I'm way over
on labor as it seems you feel the same. i've read enough of your
posts on here that I respect your opinion.

Thanks, Ed

Of coarse the GC thinks you're too high on your labor. Why are you giving a GC info about how many hours you have in a job? It's not up to him to decide how much labor.
Did you do a takeoff and apply labor units to all of the materials? It sounds like you're guessing at the labor.
If my labor units tell me a job will take 2000 hours, and the GC wants to argue that, I would tell him to pound sand because I don't argue my labor units.

Im not really sure how you estimate your projects but stores like these we have assemblies that have the labor already factored into whatever along with the material. We bid one in central NC about a year and half ago at $129,000 and came in 3rd,
