informative and made it simple...name plate of generator, get amps... multiply by 115 percent.. for size wire between generator and overcurrent device. Then wire from overcurrent device to breaker panel is sized at overcurrent device. But, this example is overcurrent device also sized at 115 percent basically... so, all sections covered...
however, what if all you have is three thousand watt generator with surge up to five thousand watts, rated for 120 or 240volts? Just convert to volts based on surge wattage? Or on normal wattage?
And would inverters be sized the same from battery banks?

The video may go on after the free version stops, but the exception for 445.13 applies to many of the large custom generators that have internal protection from overloads, which would limit the sizing to 100% of nameplate.
