So another words can the dirt or concrete be used to support the conduit, if it is within 36" of the enclosure?

IMO, will work just fine especially with larger conduit and with concrete, but only the AHJ will decide.

If encasement in the dirt is not support, then your underground runs better have some straps on them, I don't know what you will secure them to though.

If there is some inspector questioning this make him this proposal: Lets bury you in the dirt and see just how securely it keeps you from moving and/or getting yourself out.

No, but I'm guessing this is a trick question somehow?

When I saw who posted this question, I had the same reaction. Then George posted the code section, I wonder if he is looking for confirmation. My opinion is absolutely not. If 1 foot of dirt properly compacted isn't "securely fastened" then we are in trouble.

Actually, a student in my class was asking, and I didn't feel 100% confident that dirt/concrete qualified as a strap. I also wanted to show the class how to post on the forum, so here we are. :)

Many thanks for the replies.
