Just wondering what this piece is. It is on a SATCON inverter. It appears to have shorted out against the buss. is this a readily available piece? I am pretty sure it has to do with the ground fault as the turkey baster fuse was laying on the bottom of the inverter and a new one installed. But nobody knows who did it.

It is an MOV, probably part of an input or output surge protection function. The interesting question is did it fail and blow the fuse or did a transient trigger it into protective action and then the fuse blew.

If the green and yellow wire is any indication, one side of it is connected to ground/EGC.

like I said in my original post there was a ground fault fuse laying in the bottom of the inverter and a good one installed. but nobody knows how it got in there.

Thanks for the info and link for the MOV
