Ok....from a manufacturers perspective always double check what you read. for example if the SouthWire ampacity table has 6-6-6 at the 90 degree rating as 60 A when it is 55 A. Again, remember that manufacturers post things we (they) want you to read....always do your own research.

For example....this one is correct and it's not SouthWire -http://www.encorewire.com/wp-content/uploads/EncoreWire_ALCAT_SER.pdf

Love this part:

"The above data is approximate and subject to normal manufacturing tolerances."

So is it fair to say since the manf is 'vague' the NEC trumps this table?

In other words 'can' an inspector dismiss this chart?

@jx...the tolerance is permitted by the UL standard. You can use the NEC and the values in the manufacturing tables should match the NEC. However, for a product like PV Cable, since it is not in the NEC the insulation values would be at random tolerance levels...but most hold multiple ratings..like RHH and RHW-2 also. The tolerance is a general statement.

approximate - was the magic word!

Do you NOT think the manufacturers wish to protect their product? The feeling among many manufacturers are that the NEC values are appropriate values....because the NEC is very restrictive when the actual ampacity values could be higher..If you wish to embark on Engineering Judgement .
