Years ago I installed an electric fence in a backyard for a dog. It was for my boss at the time and I was just a heper but it wasn't a big deal to install.

Is a fence for horses an easy install? Are there kits available? The corral is 100 foot square so 400 feet total. Are there any code issues?

They're easy, Tractor Supply has every thing you need. Not sure about the code issue other then gfci protection.

Too make it easer go with a 12v dc system with a solar charger.

Was it an underground system? Don't think they have them for horses. All above ground on post.

No it was on fence posts and I doubt it was made for dogs. Seemed a little cruel to be zapping a pet dog.

Are the solar systems reliable? Every solar light I have seen has been crap.

The solar electric fence chargers have been around for years, and yes they are reliable. Horse gets zapped once or twice, and then may test it w/ whisker, but won't be zapped again. Also they can hear the fence charger.
