what i use is acrobat pro, pull down all the forms, and fill them out,
using all the info that doesn't change. make up a folder with all the
stuff you will need, and duplicate it for each job, then fill out the
job specific stuff.

the biggest PITA is the full title block that gets filled out the same for
18 pages of a typical -AT certification. a spreadsheet could be hot linked
between pages, so you'd only have to enter that once.... i was thinking
about that this morning. i had three certs to prepare. a custom built
spreadsheet is looking pretty good, in light of the amount of these i have
coming up to do. there aren't any available that i know of.

the only excel stuff out there would be stuff privately made, and i'd
guess people don't share that willingly.

Converting from downloadable pdf may be better suited to Word than Excel... title blocks as a header and embed an Excel Worksheet Object for any table type calculations. Don't know what you mean -AT cert, not being in any way connected to CA/T-24, so I offer an example using 2013 CF2R-LTG-02-E...

The docx needs additional edits to be 100% usable...

(Note that Google Drive preview does not layout the embedded Excel Object properly. Download and open in Word.)

after i replied to this thread, i started screwing with acrobat pro XI, seeing what i could do, and there really isn't any
reason to export a pdf document anywhere.... i really doubt that there isn't anything with the data on a pdf that you
couldn't do anything you wanted to with.... the downside is you need acrobat pro to get the full functionality. while
most anything will read and do some markups with a pdf, you need the mother ship to do a lot of stuff.

Somewhat correct, but I'll add two points: 1) forms that you have to fill out multiple times with differing information work better if processed as a fill-in form [if it is not, run it through Adobe LiveCycle Designer, included with Pro], and 2) I don't know of any way to link anything across a pdf document, such as your identical information title blocks.

I haven't used LiveCycle much except to create a few forms... and I recalled after my last post that in one of my forms I linked a text entry to another field.

Those are for versions 9 and 10. I'm using ES2. Don't know what version you are using, but I don't believe it has changed much if you are using a different version.

tools, forms, edit, add new field, text box.

put it in the first area you want to repeat thru the document.
click on it to highlight it, and command C
go to the next place you want that information echoed, Command V

it'll drop a same sized text box in the page. put it where you want it.
move to next spot you want the data.... Command V.

hit all the parts you want to put that data, and move to the next spot.

then, realize it's all for naught, as the people administering this have
gone paperless, and you log onto your account on the calctp website,
and enter the data directly into their database. that is the new scheme.

not a calctp tech or an -AT? then you don't have a log in, and life sucks.
after the end of feb. calctp will charge you to input the stuff if you send
them hard copy.

Sounds like I should be glad I don't have to deal with it... :happyyes:

Sounds like Ful's foresight may have gotten him a license to print money, if he can do it efficiently enough!

three things.... flat rate pricing, light switch response time, and luck.

i did a medical office yesterday, the tech programming the wattstopper
system passed his -AT test, but hasn't had his license number issued
yet, so he can't certify the job, so i did it. he and i were chatting as
he flashed EEPROM room controls, and this thing is rolling end over end
with people trying to keep up with it. his shop is about 90 sparkies,
almost entirely tenant improvement suite work, and he's the only tech
they have, and he's working his butt off to keep up. nice guy, smart.

i was able to show up on christmas eve to bless the install, so they
could get a final tomorrow and a certificate of occupancy so they can
move in on the weekend.

i have two more to do this next week, one on monday morning at 8:15 am
and one tuesday evening at 6 pm. the monday morning one is crucial,
as the inspector is showing up for final in the afternoon, and they are
working 24/7 since the 20th on a store remodel.

we shall see how this turns out, but it looks like i have four builders
as clients, and given who they are, next year will be insanely good.
i'm crossing my fingers, and working my ass off.

truth is, my life is blessed on many levels.
