Can we apply the requirement of 708.10(C)(2) "Fire Protection for Feeders" to Medium Voltage cables (13.8KV Normal and Emergency MV Cables) in a hospital project.

The section state the following for fire protection for feeder,

(1) Be a listed electrical circuit protective system with a minimum 1-hour fire rating.
(2) Be protected by a fire-rated assembly listed to achieve a minimum fire rating of 1 hour.
(3) Be embedded in not less than 50 mm (2 in.) of concrete.
(4) Be a cable listed to maintain circuit integrity for not less than 1 hour when installed in accordance with the listing requirement.

Not completely familiar with Article 708 applications, but I have reviewed it a couple times. Offhand I'll say the system has to be documented COPS before you can apply 708.

Fire Rated Circuit

Fire Rated Circuit

Have not run into 708 circuit fire protection with MV considerations. Although, I am very familiar with EM fire rated circuit protections in the NEC.
