    Is this a code violation

    Is the latch on electrical panel a NEC/OSHA violation.

    Probably it would be a violation of the UL listing of the panel. Probably can get a new latch from the mfg

    Covers and the doors are "listed" by UL?

    Only thing I see in 312 about being listed or approved is non-metallic cabinets. Nada on covers or doors.

    there is a standard for panelboards, much like receptacles and switches. Is the panelboard listed? Well now I am not sure. but its made per a product standard

    The only thing I see in 408 regarding cabinets containing panel boards is this.

    408.38 Enclosure. Panelboards shall be mounted in cabinets,
    cutout boxes, or identified enclosures and shall be
    dead-front.

    Panel boards may be listed but since the door is not listed then the latch should be OK.

    Ain't thrilled with those shot screws though.

    Then again, how much worse could make those wire pinching covers.
