Fellow electricians!
Looking at a residential remodel. The service is indoor rated, located inside of a garage.
The garage is getting opened up into an outdoor entrance. This will put the panels/ service gear outside.
New "Hidden Doors" are being installed to enclose the existing service gear in a shed/closet/covering (with roof, still attached to the existing wall. Indoor living space will also continue to exist on the other side).
Does this new enclosed area count as an outdoor installation? Or do I leave the existing panels (not 3R)?
I plan on asking the AHJ. Thought this was an interesting circumstance.
Thoughts?
