Question....we are installing a temp 400 amp service for a new site. We have a wood pole. Service equipment and a underground feed from Con Ed. 3 phase, 4 wire. Where do I get a ground from? There is no water main on site yet or any underground plumbing....

Then run a #6 copper conductor from the service panel's neutral bus to the first of the ground rods, and connect the two rods to each other with the same size wire. Make sure the two rods are as far apart from each other as they are long.

What you need is a grounding electrode system (GES). Since there are no electrodes present on the site you need to create your own GES. As mentioned this could be a simple as two 8' ground rods, minimum 6' apart connected to the service neutral with a #6 copper conductor.
