T8 LED Retrofit

Client tried two different brands of 32W rapid & instant-start LED tubes (first from big on-line distributor, then some Philips tubes from HD) in their bigbox two-tube fixtures.

Neither worked despite fixtures being clearly labeled for any rapid start T8.

The Sylvania 32W T8's he'd started with a year ago work fine.

Any thoughts on what's going on? So far haven't heard back from fixture manufacturer

T8 needs a ballast the retrofits are line voltage. If I understand what you are saying.

We had a problem w/ Philips T8 size LED replacements when we changed from 32 W fluorescents in some of the fixtures. When they were retrofitted from magnetic ballasts years earlier, some of them only had one wire to the tombstone. The 32 W fluorescent tubes don't care, but the Philips tube only used one pin on each end, and if that one wasn't connected, . . .
