    Yes, very common for fixtues to include an adaptor bracket that fits between old 3” fire boxes & the mounting screws intended for modern 4” round boxes.

    Regardless of whether you can adapt it or not if it not a third party lister that is specified by your agency than you cannot use it.

    NC lists the ones they will accept. You can find it here. I haven't heard of some of these testing labs
