LED Circline replacement?

Had an email from an old friend this morning- all of the circline (mostly 12") florescent fixtures in her house eat ballasts; I've replaced the ones in the kitchen twice in the last 5 years and for some unknown reason these aren't readily available (physical size IIRC). She'd now like to try LED replacement lamps. Any have experience with this? I can't find anything in the way of pop-in tubes as you can for 4' T8s or T12s; actually, it doesn't even need to be a pop-in, just something that'll fit in the space.

I'll be visiting later today to count the fixtures and get the part numbers. She doesn't what to replace the entire fixture as these were selected to fit the architecture and it would mean painting the ceiling where it'll show.
