What is a nonmetallic extension? Is it the same as nm cable?
Article 382.
I am going to be inspecting a very old office building in the near future.
They are going to do some remolding. The plan is to install a new breaker panel in the rear of the building. The existing panel is in the front. They want to use the existing panel as a "J" box and run a conduit back to the new panel.Probably 6 circuits max.
My question is can they reuse the old 2/wire nm(no grounding conductor)? They would of course leave any 2/wire receptacles as 2/wire.The new wire installed in the conduit would contain an equipment grounding means.I would like some other peoples thoughts
Thanks Paul

It's basically a zip cord with an outlet on the end. See them a lot in old houses where there may be only one receptacle in a room. Someone staples this zip cord to the baseboard and plugs it into the receptacle. The end usually has two or three two prong receptacles in it.
