We are installing a single phase 600 ATS 75 feet from the service. We are installing 4 sets of 350 mcm copper in 4 each 3 inch pvc conduits (Line - Load . With respect to grounding, am I required to install (250.66) 1 each 2/0 Grounding Conductor in each run or will 1 grounding conductor (Size?) bonding the generator and switch be legal? Should this be handled as an appliance or an AC system?

Thank you

Re: Grounding ATS/Generator Set

No, it does not switch the ground or the neutral- the neutral is bonded to the frame at the alternator-I do not belive this is correct in that it is not considered a separately derived system?

Re: Grounding ATS/Generator Set

If the neutral is not switched, it is not a SDS and you need EGCs in each raceway between the generator and the transfer switch. Asumming that this is a 1200 amp circuit the EGC in each raceway must be 3/0.
