Someone told me that you cannot have two generators to two transfer switches for one building.

Is this a myth or is it true.
I cannot find it in the NEC 2008.
I looked in the generator section and in the 700's.

i don't have my code book here so can't say for sure; but i've seen it done.

as long as you're feeding two separate panels, and break the neutrals at the ATS, i don't see a problem.

Why would I need to break the neutral?
We usually use 3 pole 4 wire transfer switches.

These generators are for computer rooms with UPS systems, so I would call them optional standby generators. No life safety.

I am not saying that you can as there may be a prohibiting factor of which I am unaware, but my thoughts would go to 225.30 which limits feeders and "emergency systems" are a "sepcial condition" allowance and I find nothing in Art 702 that prohibits it.
We may both learn somethimg.

I think the plural wording in 225.30(A) allows addition feeders in the special conditions. Otherwise it would say " an additonal feeder".

(A) Special Conditions. Additional feeders or branch circuits shall be permitted to supply the following:

(4) Optional standby systems
