I am in the process of running power to a pole barn. The closest power source is not the main panel, but a sub-panel in the garage. The sub-panel is 100amp feeding receptacles and lights in the garage. The pole barn will be doing the same and there is no major draw. My question is two parts:
Is there anything in the code book that limits the number of sub-panels feeding other sub-panels? I will be placing a 100amp sub-panel with proper feeders in the pole barn and then fusing it at 80 amps off the 100amp sub panel. Does anyone see a probelm with this? The main service is a 400 amp and can handle it.

Agreed, as long as you treat the neutral and EGC properly.
