Gould ite panel fires?

In a neighborhood in Virginia we have been experiencing fires resulting from older gould i-t-e panels over heating. 2 fires we have heard of and one we prevented. We examined one of these panels and determined that the buss bar was heating up to over 600 degrees F. We replaced the panel. Is there any data that these panels are recalled or are known to be a problem?

Right here.
I've never seen a PushMatic fail in such a way. Perhaps it was a split buss version, that was simply overloaded above the split?

Sorry I should have be clearer. These panels are for the 1" seimens type breakers. The center of the heat seemed to be where the buss was bolted to the main breaker connector.

At first I thought maybe panel was overloaded, but that sounds like a bad connection at the main breaker joint with buss.
