I am looking to purchase a basic hand held insulation tester for breakers, ATSs and switchgear and will not go above the 1000V range.
I looked at the Fluke 1520 & 1507 and the Megger MIT 400 series.
Price range: $200 to $ 540 depending whether new or used on Ebay.
Has anyone used these models, or can recommend another manufacturer
that they prefer that would suit my needs?
Any input would be helpful.
Thanks

Tony

I think AEMC is making the best stuff right now, the 1040 is a great starter megohmeter, the 1050 is the best 1000V unit on the market IMO. All depends on how much you will use it.

But if I had to choose between the ones you listed, the MIT 400 is a good one too.

Actually just closed a bar with every regional manager in the US from Megger, told them about this thread and they all were smiling ear to ear, not that they influnenced my veiw, still love the MIT 400.

Must be nice to get to hang out with the Megger guys! :)

Don't you have a AEMC 1060? They corrected some annoying bugs with the latest software version.
