Hi folks,
I am passionate about solar energy and want to learn more about it by working on a small project consisting in making my electric gate solar powered.
I know a few basics about electricity (W=VxA, etc...).
My gate is 280 W ; 230v. So I assume ~250 Wh per month needed (20 sec per day, 45 min per month).
My solar panel must be linked to 12v or 24v battery.
That's where I get confused. What is DC and AC? (wiki definition is fine but I need practice) What to do to get to 230v from 12 or 24v? Is that the purpose of the DC/AC inverter?
Sorry if I didnt post to the right forum. Feel free to move it to where it belongs. Also search in forum for '230v to 12v' and such didnt return anything so I decided to finally post.
