First the state has to actually adopt the 2008 code...

True, but i'm guessing that the people who are on the boards that are responsible for adopting the codes already have a pretty good idea of how the changes might affect them. I know i'm jumping the gun a little bit here, i'm just wondering what might be coming down the pike.

Washington won't adopt the 2008 NEC until late 2008, in order to get ample input from stakeholders. I heard from Sarina in Mikes office that several other states are having late adoptions.
Next week I'll be at the IAEI NW section meeting, I ask around and see whats up.
I suspect its the AFCI and child proof recpts that are the issues.

If all stays the same here in MA we will be on the 2008 NEC 1/1/08 with about 60 to 70 amendments.

RI and CT are also usually quick to adopt the newest NEC.

Right here.
We havn't been on statewide codes for very many years in PA, but with the short history as a guide, we'll adopt the '08 on January 1, 2009. The only amendments will likely only be to Article 80.

You guys specifically adopt Articles 80 with it's warranties search sections?

I can not even believe 80 made it into the NEC Annex as written.

nope. They pretty much delete it, and substitute in a section more germain to all the state's code enforcement.
