Labor Units

Does anyone know of a better way to give an estimate for residential remodeling. I live in Florida and it's pretty good business. I use PAL publications "electrical estimating" and it's worked well, but it is very time consuming and I'm not really sure where they come up with some of the labor units.

Can you take some time and enter the LUs from the book into a spreadsheet?

FWIW, if anyone has a Half-Price Books nearby, check it out. They have the blue book for $2.

That would be my suggestion....BUT...there is a "learning curve" there.

The baby-step approach would be to buy The National Estimator(TNE) at amazon for $33 ....comes with the book and a cd.

It is. I am looking for something a little more elaborate, but not difficult to use (relatively speaking)

Go with TNE (The National Estimator)....super cheap ($33@amazon)....ultra simple.

Here is a screen shot of the program (TNE comes with a book and a CD):

There are quite a few threads here regarding TNE.
