I have an Ideal "Split-Jaw? Smart Meter" and after just about 18 months the display is going out on it. What type of voltage testers do you guys recommend? I liked the split jaw design but didn't think it last nearly long enough.

I also have a Fluke T-5. The only draw backs are that the voltmeter is high impedance & can be fooled by voltages caused by capactive coupling if the circuit is not connected to a load. It is not a true RMS meter either, you pay more money for that.
Keeping that in mind it is the meter I reach for first in most cases.

I have one of these as well. It has been dropped and drug and beat and leads replaced, and aside from occasionally changing the battery, roughly every 2 years, it's been great.
