If you are feeding a transformer from the floor below, do you have to have a disconnect mounted next to the transformer? (Line of sight). Not talking about over current protection, but having a disconnecting means next to the transformer. (Primary side)

I don't think there is anything in Article 450 that requires a disconnect.
I always specify one in cases like this, though. It makes maintenance a lot easier.

You are not required to have a "disconnecting means" for a transformer. You are required to have primary overcurrent protection of the transformer but this OCPD does not need to be "in sight of" the transformer.
