Saving other trades with DIYS info

Are we doing the right thing if we give help to other trades on wiring in there own home ?I stopped one today that was ready to install 3 prong outlets in his 50,s home with 2 prong outlets.Hopefully i saved him from big mistake.What do others do when asked

I generally don't give how-to advice, only advise them that what they're doing is incorrect.

If pressed, I will tell them I can do the job correctly.
 
It's like when an 8 year old asks a question.

if it is a fishing expedition I'll push them off...
if they have a specific well articulated question I'll answer it.
(But I don't typically volunteer more than what is asked)

It's also like when you see an 8 year old about to qualify for a Darwin award
I'll warn them off of something really dumb.
