TPI? Or do you mean TCP (Technical Consumer Products) HD's house brand "Nvision" are made by TCP, where as the ones that Lowes carries are made by Feit Electric.
Yeah, TCP. Still had TPI on the brain from an earlier thread. TCP also makes the Wal-Mart house brand CFL's, "Great Value".

I actually bought some from HD a while back that where branded TCP during one of those poco promotions where they sell them for 0.99 a piece. I still haven't used them.

TCP are what I use. They cost a fortune, but they are good bulbs. I have a TCP CFL bug-light (nasty vapor orange color) that my distributor gave me. It actually works.

Of course they first had to brainwash them that there was such a thing as global warming. Do a Google search on "Global Cooling", it makes for interesting reading. I don't know who is correct, but there seems to be as much evidence for global cooling as for warming. The hottest year on record was 1998, succeeding years have been cooler while CO emissions have continued to increase. Makes you think....

Junk Science: Light Bulb Lunacy
Sunday, April 29, 2007

By Steven Milloy

How much money does it take to screw in a compact fluorescent lightbulb? About $4.28 for the bulb and labor ? unless you break the bulb. Then you, like Brandy Bridges of Ellsworth, Maine, could be looking at a cost of about $2,004.28, which doesn?t include the costs of frayed nerves and risks to health.

Sound crazy? Perhaps no more than the stampede to ban the incandescent light bulb in favor of compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) ? a move already either adopted or being considered in California, Canada, the European Union and Australia.

According to an April 12 article in The Ellsworth American, Bridges had the misfortune of breaking a CFL during installation in her daughter?s bedroom: It dropped and shattered on the carpeted floor.

Aware that CFLs contain potentially hazardous substances, Bridges called her local Home Depot for advice. The store told her that the CFL contained mercury and that she should call the Poison Control hotline, which in turn directed her to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

The DEP sent a specialist to Bridges? house to test for mercury contamination. The specialist found mercury levels in the bedroom in excess of six times the state?s ?safe? level for mercury contamination of 300 billionths of a gram per cubic meter.

The DEP specialist recommended that Bridges call an environmental cleanup firm, which reportedly gave her a ?low-ball? estimate of $2,000 to clean up the room. The room then was sealed off with plastic and Bridges began ?gathering finances? to pay for the $2,000 cleaning. Reportedly, her insurance company wouldn?t cover the cleanup costs because mercury is a pollutant.

Doesn't the Constitution guarantee my right to "dim"? Chinese CFL crap will take this inalienable right away from me and my beloved ones.

The other reason mercury bulbs are made in China...life is worth less there, and the US Congress is giving a silent nod to this death sentence.

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggggghhhhhh ITS CALLED "ICED TEA" what the hell is "sweet tea" ? What if I dont like sweetener in my "ICED TEA" Do you call it unsweetened sweet tea? the clip was great by the way, I totaly agree with the congress man
It's sweet tea when it's sweetened, it's iced tea when it has ice, it's tea if it's plain tea, it's hot tea if it's hot, it's sweet tea with lemon if it has sweetener and lemon...I could go on, but I won't.
I do wonder how many people even know that you can't just throw away CFLs like incandescents.
