exam questions

hi
came accross this question s on an exam., was wandering what they acually wanted.i just drew a blank the answer was propably right in front of me.
1) what is a cathode?
(terminal in which current flows out.)
is what i put, dont now if i was right !
2) the grid is usally operated-------------- in respect to the cathode.
(in series)?

What kind of exam was this for? You posted in the grounding forum, so it makes me wonder what the scope of the exam was covering?

I am thinking it has something to do with "Sacrificial Grounding Electrodes" based on the terminology and posting in the grounding forum?
