Yes the threads in IMC and rigid are the same. You do have to be careful not to set the die too deep on the smaller sizes of IMC....if you do the pipe may break at the threads if there is much force applied.
It is also my opinion that the labor actually goes up on the smaller sizes as compared to rigid if you are using hand bending and threading tools. Not so much if you are using power tools.
