Pulling out duct bank feeders

Have 16- 4" conduits with 500mcm in them. Where have to pull out feeders for 11 of them 5 of the conduits will remain live. Should this be done like this....is it dangerous to be pulling out dead feeders with live ones right next to them? Thanks.

Are you pulling from the same enclosure where the 5 conduits conductors are routed without conduit?

Are there any energized terminals or metal parts, uncovered and uninsulated, to which a worker would be exposed?

What voltage do the feeder circuits operate, what type of feeder cables are they, and in what condition are the feeder cables?

At our plant, we route medium voltage feeders through manholes and duct banks. We permit work on de-energized cables but require them to be treated as energized until proven dead by use of a remotely activated spiking tool. Our experience has been the likelihood of cables failing is low if not being moved or interacted with. So we don't require other energized cables in the manholes to be de-energized to do work on other cables (installing, splicing or removing) if the energized cables can be barriered off to prevent them from being moved or interacted with. If this cant be done, we will de-energize those circuits in close proximity to the cables to be worked on. Since we own and operate our distribution system, we have the flexibility to schedule feeder outages as required.

It sounds like you would need some serious rigging to pull out these wires. Imagine what the result would be if the rope or pulling head broke. Bad news for people and MCC, etc.

You're going to need an outage to disconnect both ends of the wires anyway, maybe you could use that same outage to pull the wires back to the first pull point (j-box or LB)?????
