any thoughts on a floor box?

I have a residential application that needs line and low volt under a desk. This in an old work application but I have some access from below (ie I'm OK'd to do some damage). I looked at the Wiremold page for poke through devices and it looked like they needed a depth of at least 16 1/2". I havent measures the joists but to the best of my recollection I have at most 12" of depth. Anyone run into this before/ have any thoughts on this?

check out P&S. they make a plastic floor box very similar to a plastic old work box. They work great.

You could also check out Hubbel for their floor boxes I do admit they are high end in some cases but they have them as shallow as 2.5 inches in depth.
Another supplier of a good floor box is Spider manufacturing http://www.spidermfg.com/catalogue.html
Again these are high end but very durable.
