Does the General Electrician License encompass/include the Residential or any other certification or is it only for Commercial and Industrial type work...?

I am a licensed Electrical (C10) but when I went to work for a friend with a new C10 license who wanted help building his business (I was ready to retire) I had to take the Calif
exam for general electrician to work for him. At that time there were two classifications, one for residential and one for commercial/industrial. The commercial/industrial also covers you for residential. The exam was no big deal if you know your NEC and how to use it.
