Type 1 and Type 2 EES's in NFPA 99 correspond to Category 1 and Category 2 systems in Chapter 4 (i.e. systems whose failure can cause loss of life and systems whose failure can cause major injury). But what is the difference between these two systems from an electrical design perspective. The only thing I can discern is that Type 2 does not require 0.01 sec selectivity. But otherwise, it's still a full hospital 517.30 EES system is it not?
